Three new stars enter the Tony-nominated musical Frozen on February 18. Ciara Renée takes over as Elsa, with McKenzie Kurtz as Anna and Ryan McCartan as Hans. They replace Caissie Levy, Patti Murin and Joe Carroll, who exited the production at the St. James Theatre on February 16.
Renée was most recently seen on stage in the off-Broadway musical The Wrong Man. Her credits also include Broadway turns in Big Fish and Pippin and an off-Broadway performance in Tick, Tick...BOOM!
Kurtz, a recent graduate of University of Michigan's School of Music, has been seen in regional productions of Footloose, Sweet Charity, Me and My Girl, Sister Act, Guys and Dolls, Pippin and The Little Mermaid.
Recently seen off-Broadway in Scotland, PA, McCartan has appeared on Broadway in Wicked and off-Broadway in Heathers: The Musical. He was also seen on-screen in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Based on Disney's Oscar-winning film, Frozen centers on two sisters who are pulled apart by a mysterious secret. As one of them, Elsa, struggles to find her voice and harness her powers within, the other, Anna, embarks on an epic adventure to bring her family together once and for all.
Frozen features a book by the film's screenwriter and co-director Jennifer Lee, a score by the movie's Oscar-winning music makers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, and choreography by Tony winner Rob Ashford. Tony winner Michael Grandage is the show's director.
